I shed a tear upon receiving the message that Jenni Updenkelder and I would not make it for coffee. She's back in San Francisco now, her office is closed, she's tired and sad, disappointed that she'll never see her college friend for another 2 years. Despite the fact that she's pursuing her dreams of dance with robust vigor, despite her living in one of the best cultural meccas of the West, despite having a terrific boyfriend named Seth, there is a part of her that died today... and it will never return.
