Twelfth Night: First Look

I haven't put many images of the show as it's been a little scary watching this thing come to fruition. Plus the set was a mess. Here's what it looks like right now, with a lot more work to go. My original idea for the show, the idea that I abandoned months ago, has actually materialized on this set. Elizabethan Steampunk.

The set is HUGE. We have some problems with acoustics as the hollowed out Kresge Theater (undergoing massive remodeling) likes to suck up all the sound. Add to that a metal set with grating and no back wall to really bounce sound, the actors are having to really push themselves to be heard. Of course, they can't push themselves... that's the kicker.

Of course the great thing about this set is what the lights can do. This shot is no particular cue. It's just our lighting designer messing around, but as you can see there's already some beautiful stuff that can happen. As the set continues to finish, you will see more silk draped around it, which will affect how light is used in the space.

Hopefully more to come!
